Paint & Pasta

The Paint

Join Australian artist Sammy Veall for an intimate and immersive acrylic painting workshop at her home in Fitzroy. Explore colour and character through figurative still life, bringing imagery to life with vibrant colour, atmosphere and story.

Sammy’s vibrant, pattern-rich works celebrate the beauty of everyday moments, from intimate gatherings, shared meals, collected objects and travels abroad.

In this 3-hour session, you’ll explore the fundamentals of acrylic painting to create playful still life compositions. Sammy will have a selection of favourite travel and cook books, as well as interesting objects around her home to work from. You are also welcome to bring images of your own.

This is a hands-on, guided, exploratory class with plenty of room for personal expression. Whether you’re new to acrylics or looking to refresh your skills, this workshop offers a welcoming space for all levels of painting experience.

The Pasta

On the menu
Aperitivo
Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa
Hand cut Tagliatelle with Meat Ragu
Chilled Red
White Wine

While I will be busy teaching the painting side of things, my good friend Dave will be helping in the kitchen to bring you an authentic and wintery Italian meal. Dave and I cook together all the time and I’m very excited to invite you to join us! Learn how to make handmade Orecchiette with a Broccoli pesto and traditional hand cut Tagliatelle. As the ragu is slow cooked, this will be made prior but we will be handing out recipes to take home post workshop! We will be working with a pasta machine as well as with our hands. Lunch will be served around 2pm. Any dietary requirements please let us know. Unfortunately we cannot cater to gluten free, I’m sorry. Dave also makes incredible focaccia and sourdough, ask him about it if you want some tips for home! He is also quite the sommelier so expect some delicious wines.

What to bring:
Just yourself,
And a painting shirt.

The day will be intertwined with painting and pasta making, a free flowing workshop with records spinning and fire burning. Come relaxed and ready for an afternoon of wine, conversation and creativity.
